the new sign is up!

We put up our new sign yesterday, just the same size and shape as the old MiaLou one, but new, shiny and yellow. A bit more yellow than I had expected, but I like it! Now it’s official, our name is out there for all to see.

We’re getting ready for our grand opening!

PARTY Saturday, November 17, 5-10. Come one come all! Regular hours thereafter will be Tuesday through Saturday 11-7. We still need more handmade goods - there’s still plenty of room in our little store! :)

you guys are amazing!

thanks10-21-07

I’ve been a very busy and very happy girl! The inventory keeps coming in, and I can’t believe the awesome creativity of these artists. So far these goods are sitting on our shelves waiting for their debut:

woodburned spoons, jewelry and birdhouses (pyrography) and painted glass ornaments by Lorraine Daliessio

handbags, tees, paintings and cards by Samilia Mary Colar

block printed note cards by Red Mailbox Press

crocheted bead necklaces by Clarissa Ceruti

photographs by Addie Fuller

lampworked glass “vessel” pendants by Kristy Kempinger

dichroic glass jewelry by Rhonda Willis

silkscreened neckties and tees by Tymbal

Many more to come, from tiles to cards to soaps to housewares… and jewelry… how exciting!

There’s still lots of room, so if you’d like to show your work, don’t hesitate to contact us! The more goods, the more reasons for customers to shop here and possibly find your pieces in our collection…

We just established a MySpace page - please be our friend! myspace.com/vixemporium . (it seems to be a necessary evil these days.)

Keep ‘em coming! And don’t miss our grand opening - Saturday, November 17! (tentative time: 4-10)

just Wow.

Exterior view of the storefront. (You can see the 34 trolley rolling by in the reflection.)

Today is Monday, October 1. This past Friday, I gave a month’s notice at my job and began to officially put the word out about our new store by distributing some flyers and e-mails. Since then, we have gotten DOZENS of wonderful responses from crafters, artisans, well-wishers and friends expressing their support. I never expected such an overwhelming response in only a few days! Thanks so much to everyone - together we can make this venture a huge success!

We still need more consignors, though; there are lots of shelves to fill. We chose the name “Emporium” because it sounds like a store that could have absolutely anything, and that’s the goal! We want to provide a wide variety of gifts and functional items for our very diverse neighborhood. Paper goods, pottery, jewelry, knitting, accessories, bath & body, you name it! (however, we’re not doing much clothing or very large art pieces as our space is a bit limited.) Please feel free to contact us at info@vixemporium.com - the more the merrier!
