gocco-a-go-go

Back in January, we posted about some stationery we made using the Print Gocco, a small-scale screenprinting system made in Japan.

Our next event, “Gocco-A-Go-Go”, will feature this nifty little gadget and two local visual artists who use it in their work, Amy Walsh and Kate Duncan. We’ll also have live music by Melissa Santangelo of the baroque/medieval/renaissance inspired band Oubliette Ensemble. Refreshments and perhaps a few surprises await…

VIX picks 3/13/08

This week’s pick is Steven J. Hoke, a Philadelphia potter.

His elegant footed bowls with simple lines and refined texture would be the perfect gift for a wedding or housewarming. We have a range of sizes, in blue or white. Each one is hand-thrown and unique.

VIX picks 3/4/08

Every Tuesday or so we’ll be featuring one of our wonderfully creative artists. This week’s pick is Philly gal Lauren Marsella, a recent addition to the mix. She hand paints  on shrink plastic to create earrings and pins featuring cultural icons and relics, from the obscure to the all-too-well-known.. Choose from Margaret Bourke-White (pictured), Michael Jackson, Liz Taylor, Val Kilmer or Queen Elizabeth, just to name a few.

I couldn’t resist the early David Bowie pin, with his different-color eyes!

She also does inanimate objects like blow dryers and pencil sharpeners. Stop by and check out her stuff in person, won’t you?
