About Us
Sean Dorn and his wife moved to Philadelphia from San Francisco in 2000. The couple owned MiaLou at 5009 Baltimore Avenue. The store was an eclectic mix of jewelry, apparel and other gifts, mostly handmade by themselves and local consignors. The two later went their separate ways, and MiaLou closed in 2006. Sean is the graphic artist responsible for VIX’s original t-shirt and stationery designs. He does graphics for a local weekly newspaper and also plays the standup bass.
Emily Conroy grew up in the Philadelphia area and has been in retail management since 1995. For over seven years, she helped run The Black Cat, a small, independent jewelry and gift boutique near the Penn campus. There, she learned how to operate a store at the local level and developed personal relationships with vendors, artists and customers. Emily is also a jewelry designer whose main project is Precious Meshes, pieces made of hand-crocheted wire.
Sean and Emily have joined forces, in life and in business, to form the team behind VIX Emporium. The two live together in West Philly with their four cats.

Emily — I didn’t realize that you are Precious Meshes!!! I get gushing compliments every time I wear the incredible pearls I got from you at Christmas a few years ago — it’s my favorite piece of jewelry! Now I know that when I sell at your shop I will just spend that $ on your jewelry… I look forward to seeing you again, Rebecca
